Post questions and useful info about Joshua 1 here.

1:9 I repeat, be strong and brave! Don’t be afraid and don’t panic, for I, the Lord your God, am with you in all you do.”
What an amazing promise to all of us that God will be with us in whatever we do...
But is that really what is being said here?
Based on the context - can you discover what God means by being strong and brave? Is he speaking to everyone or just Joshua? Should we be putting this saying on plaques- or is this actually a warning in disguise?
1:12 Joshua told the Reubenites, Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh:
Do you remember what is significant about these tribes?
1:16 They told Joshua, “We will do everything you say. We will go wherever you send us. 1:17 Just as we obeyed Moses, so we will obey you. But may the Lord your God be with you as he was with Moses! 1:18 Any man who rebels against what you say and does not obey all your commands will be executed.31 But be strong and brave!”
I actually broke out in a boisterous laugh when I read these verses... Can you guess why?
